Green Clover Developments believes passionately in giving back to support the local communities where it operates.
We have strong connections with The Oakland Foundation which has been driving a mission against child poverty locally since 2013 and is about to announce an investment pledge of £0.5million as a long-term continuation plan for local good causes.
Our Food Park would have a set of values which businesses would be required to sign up for on entry and this will include a local community pledge in terms of time and investment to support long term support initiatives in the area.
The aim is to further develop and enhance the community in which they would be operating and where they plan to draw their workforce from.
Social Responsibility
This will include:
- Environmentally friendly construction with carbon locking build principles
- Low cost and eco homes
- Low energy lighting
- Energy efficient heating and cooling
- Solar photo voltaic energy production
- Shared site recycling for all wood, plastic and cardboard.
- Ground source heating
- CHP Power Plant
- Wind power
- Anaerobic Digestion fed from waste produced on site
- On-site sewage and waste treatment
- Electric vehicles
- Rainwater harvesting
- On site retreats encouraging well being and good health
Food Science Park Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of our Food Science Park as we aim to create something which is not only groundbreaking and innovative, but necessary. Our Food Science Parks will model how industry and innovation can work hand in hand with climate action, community development and economic prosperity.
Why it is Important
- The UK food system is responsible for approximately 20% of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions
- With our background in the supply chain, we know it is critical we find a solution.
- The UK has committed to being net-zero by 2050 and limiting global warming to 1˚C in a bid to save our seas, rivers, land and crops.
- This will require a 70 per cent cut in emissions which is why we are looking to reinvent the food supply chain.
Sustainability as the Driving Force
Our mission
To to build sustainable, innovative, and vibrant spaces that support local economies, promote healthy living, and enhance community’s well-being through integrated residential & commercial developments.
Our sustainability
To focus is to prioritise eco-conscious design, sustainable building practices and energy-efficient systems in every project, ensuring that our communities are as kind to the environment as they are to their residents
Our Food Science Parks are decarbonising the food system and giving back to our local communities. By shortening the supply chain, supporting clean energy and using resources responsibly, we aim to achieve the ambitious goal of being net-zero by 2030. We are also working towards a universal call to act to end poverty, protect the environment and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030.
Guided by these three main pillars, people, planet and prosperity, our Food Science Park and neighbouring Residential Food Park commits to creating a world where businesses, people and the planet can live in harmony:
People:
- We aim to create a powerful and inclusive workforce of up to 75,000 people by providing affordable, energy-efficient homes within the park
- We will invest in schools, training and employment pathways to help our community to thrive
- We will offer shifts that suit a work life balance and creches for working parents
- We will offer training and career pathways and encourage youth development
Planet:
- We are leading the charge in decarbonising the food system through renewable energy, advanced technologies and optimising the supply chain
- We will support the growth of healthy foods from vegetables, fruit, pulses, lean meats, fish and innovative new proteins, helping people lead longer, healthier lives
- Our sites will be powered by renewable energy sources to enable off-grid operations from solar panels to wind power, ground source heating, combined heat and power plants and anaerobic digestion systems fuelled by on-site supply chain food waste
Prosperity:
- As a recognised High Potential Opportunity (HPO) in food automation, the Food SciencePark will allow businesses to trial, scale, and commercialise innovation in the drive to shaping a greener, more competitive industry
Embedding these Values
The Food Science Park will be built on these same principles:
Reducing Carbon Emissions
Sustainable Economic Growth
Businesses at the Food Park
All businesses joining the park will be required to sign a pledge, committing to supporting local communities, enhancing the wellbeing of their workforce and upholding social standards.
Through this shared commitment, the Food Science Park will become a model of just what is possible when we truly live in a way which not only balances, but promotes people, planet and prosperity equally.
